Bio:

About me; I am a student at EvCC and Lake Stevens High, and enjoy a lot of sports such as Tennis, Volleyball, and Snowboarding.

My Wikipedia interests: I enjoy small facts in history it makes it more immersive and understandable. Like adding color to a drawing. For example, I was on the home page of Wikipedia when I saw an article on a man named Peter Badcoe. He was a major and a recipient of the highest medal from the Australian navy called the Victoria Cross(you can read the info linked if you want). Seeing the freedom and maturity that comes with being a part of this website, I made a set of rules for myself. I see myself as someone who would look over the credibility of articles rather than write one. If I ever do write it would come from a creditable source, not just from the top of my head. I want to add my knowledge here, not force it upon the cite.

My Article Evaluation (Redo)

Following current news and recent events, I decided to critique the Covid-19 article found on Wikipedia. Personally, I think it is a great and easy resource for the public. The article holds instructions on how to maintain cleanliness, safety, and what it is exactly we are dealing with. By learning about Covid-19, and how it works, we can fight against it and get out of the pandemic sooner. As I visited the Covid-19 article on Wikipedia, I found three aspects of the article worth commenting on. Firstly, how consistently this page is kept up to date with its facts and info, how the article maintains correct formatting and keeps sources available through the article., and how it helps people who read it gain a better understanding of the pandemic.

Within every Wikipedia article, you can look at the history of what was implemented, changed, and removed. This leads to the possibility of misleading information or just straight-up false information. On the other hand, opening editing to the general public allows the pages to be less biased towards one opinion or another and for the collective info of all participants to mesh into the truth. Within a popular wiki-page, or in this case, the Covid-19 page the info displayed undergoes the sifting and refining process to convey correct information and practices.

Alongside all of the fact-checked info, the article itself needs to maintain correct formatting and sourcing. Regarding those who add their two cents and help refine and polish the article. The sources and info go hand-in-hand. Without reliable sources, the info is basically useless. For an elaborate article with so much fixing-up, the sources are easier to piece to the info if it is inserted directly into that part of the info. It makes it much easier to follow, and fact check for yourself as you read through the article, this feature is very helpful.

The article contains a whole section on the different practices used to protect yourself and others from the virus. Within the instructions, links are provided to show the research behind the different techniques. A variety of practices such as Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation, hand washing, and alcohol sanitization.

Overall, as I have read through and analyzed the article, I have concluded that the article is reliable. While the article is from Wikipedia, and some whom may deem 'unreliable' for the sole purpose of being open-sourced. I think this article is a perfect example of a quote I heard of not too long ago, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer" - Sun Tsu. This article provides clear, reputable, and helpful info on the topic of the Covid-19 virus through various pieces of information on the topic.
