Shaun Rogerson (born 24 June, 1989 in Abram Wigan) is an English pop singer who rose to prominence in the UK after taking part in the 2006 series of the talent show [1] The X Factor Shaun made it to boot camp but never made it to the final four, but still performed at the live final without being a contestant. He appeared as a judge on Young Star Search in Northern Ireland in June and July 2007. [2]
Career
editEarly life
editShaun was born in Abram, Greater Manchester [1] He attended Cansfield High School in Ashton[3] Living with his mother Joanne, father Gary and his two sisters Kirsty and Leanne, Shaun has always loved to sing and taken part in school productions of musicals, and, and at 14, won a singing competition in Haven, Devon.[4]Previously a catering student, he dropped out to concentrate on a singing career.
2006: The X Factor
editShaun first applied for The X Factor in March 2006 and then took part in the audition for The X Factor. He was very nervous in his first audition and broke down. Luckily, Sharon Osbourne sympathized with him and gave him a second audition chance. So did Louis Walsh, although Simon Cowell declined. Judge Osbourne even paid for a life coach, Mark Russel, to help Shaun conquer his nerves and be able to perform more confidently. [5]. Manchester Evening News said that Shaun touched the hearts of fans of with his X Factor performance.[6] Shaun made it to boot camp but failed to pass to the finals. But he was chosen by Simon Cowell to be in his final 8 in boot camp in the 16-24 group. Shaun's final audition in front of Cowell was in Miami when he asked if Shaun would be able to cope onstage and Shaun answered that he was not ready. Although not picked for the live shows in Cowell's category, he was still offered the chance to sing on the live. He sang Right Here Waiting in the final of The X Factor with 12 million people watching.[7] Reportedly, Simon Cowell even offered Shaun a record deal regardless.[8] Shaun also toured witb The X Factor finalists without being a finalist himself. This is the only time in the series that a non-finalist has taken part in the after-season tour.
