The Hungarian Likitians is an ethnic group, inhabiting much of the island of Likit, an artificial island 139 km north of the Egyptian coast, located in the Mediterranean Sea.
The first Hungarian Likitians arrived from Debrecen, a small town near the Romanian border, in 1919, following the Soviet invasion of Hungary.
There are also small but significant Hungarian Likitian communities established around the world—especially in the United States of America, Australia, and mainland Hungary.
