Since admin coaching often consists of asking questions and what-if scenarios, let's just start with the traditional RFA questions. Traditional RFA questions What admin areas do you intend to work in? What do you believe are your best contributions? What conflicts have you been in and how have you handled them? The answers to these questions will usually be a !voter's first impression of you, so choose your words carefully. Once you've answered these questions, we'll go from there. Such as blocking vandals, Protect pages that require protection, Deleting pages that are nonsense and that are requested at the WP:SD and help keep Wikipedia clean and safe. My best contributions to Wikipedia are infoboxes and external links to many of celebrity pages. I also fix up the formate on some Wikipedia pages that need correction to make it look better. I have been in a couple of conflicts in the past few months. Such as when a trolling IP kept making personal attacks on my talk page back in June. I handed this problem by reporting it to the WP:AIV and that user got blocked for it. I don't usually run into any kind of problems or I don't really get stuck on anything. As being a long standing editor I know the right medicine for any kind of problem I may run into. I hope these are the right answers to the questions. So what else should I know about being a great admin? King Lopez Contribs 10:35, 18 December 2007 (UTC) Those were pretty good answers, especially number 3, but you might want to make your answers for 1 and 2 a little longer. One pointer is to use CAT:CSD instead of WP:SD. The category is where you would actually go to speedy delete pages. You'll also want to make sure to avoid any typos in your answers, such as "preform" and "formate", some commenters at RFA are sticklers on spelling and grammar. King Lopez Contribs 11:16, 19 December 2007 (UTC) The Next Thing Typically, after looking at your answers to the standard questions, !voters on RFA will then look at your edit count using Kate's Tool. Hopefully you already knew where to go to get those stats besides just clicking on my link. Now, looking at your statistics, you are not going to pass an RFA yet. Your total number of edits is sufficient, however, your number of edits to the Wikipedia namespace is only 73. You'll want to get that to at least 300, if not 500. The way to do this is to participate in WP:XFD, my favorites of which are WP:AFD and WP:MFD. At those pages, you just comment on whether you believe the article/item in question should be deleted or not, giving rationale and hopefully citing policy. When commenting, take a look at what other editor's say, but don't say things like, "Delete per nom." That is frowned upon and will hurt you in an RFA. You have to add meaning to the discussion. So get your Wikipedia namespace up as quick as possible and getting your Wikipedia Talk namespace up will also be good. It's currently at 1. How would you apply IAR to your contributions? A: I can answer this question, if you tell me what does IAR stand for? Sorry for the alphabet soup, it stands for Ignore All Rules. What are your personal criteria for a potential admin? A: To be a great administrator, and help out as much as I can on Wikipedia. Can you be more specific? What do you look for in a candidate at WP:RFA that would make you !vote support? These questions where more difficult then the previous ones. So what else should I know? King Lopez Contribs 04:20, 29 January 2008 (UTC) First: Why would we want to Ignore all the rules if the rules are there for a reason. So therefore they should not be broken. So why would I want to ignore the rules in my contributions? I would get in trouble for that. Second: In the RFA I review the candidates contributions and check there edits and see if they can be trusted with all the administrator tools. I also see if the candidate assumes good faith, and is Civil. So in conclusion, I would support a candidate when I see that he or she is completely honest and trustworthy for the Wikipedia community. King Lopez Contribs 10:36, 29 January 2008 (UTC) Those answers a definitely better, but other editors will want to see that you would ignore all rules if they were somehow preventing you from improving Wikipedia. We shouldn't ignore fules haphazardly, but if they are in your way, for some reason, you can bypass them in order to make Wikipedia better. A: Yes, I am about to participate in the WP:AFD Marked articles for speedy deletion? A: Yes, I have marked several articles for Speedy deletion. Articles that are advertisement's, and nonsense pages I have requested that they would be speedy deleted. Listed a vandal for WP:AIV? A: Yes, I have listed many vandals on the WP:AIV I always have accurate readings on my reports and make sure that the vandal has received the proper set of user warnings so that they can get blocked for it. Listed a page for protection? A: Several pages, I listed on the WP:RPP which is more common that pages get disrupted by IP's and should be semi protected. Participated in WP:AN or WP:ANI discussion? A: The WP:AN is when you have questions you have to discuss with admins. I have made a few edits only on the WP:AN when I have questions that I am concern about only. As for the WP:ANI is when you want to report a long time vandal, or sockpuppet that has disrupted for quite a while. I have made a few edits on the WP:AIV from a few vandals that caused trouble previously. Acted as a neutral party in dispute? A: Can you explain to me briefly, what this means? I mean more specific. Follow Up: By this I meant doing any work at Third Opinion or in any other way helped resolve a concern between two other individuals. A: Yes, I have used almost all the vandalism tools there is. I have all of them installed. Including Popups, TW, Anti vandal tool, and have the administrator rollback feature. These tools help me a lot when I am on vandal patrol. !Voted in an WP:RFA? A: I have made a lot of supports on the WP:RFA but I check there contributions before I make the vote. contributed to the Reference desk? A: No, not this one yet. Do I need too? Is this a requirement to pass the RFA? Follow up: No, nobody every really mentions the reference desk at all, I just brought it up because I like to help people out at the computing reference desk. So how are these answers? King Lopez Contribs 04:09, 12 February 2008 (UTC) Good, you've done quite a bit of a variety of things. Most !voters in an RFA want to see a balanced editor. You're a pretty good editor, but you're lacking three items that will be critical to passing an RFA. Take a look at your stats here. You only have 1 Wikipedia Talk, 79 Wikipedia, and more red in your graph than most would like (red edits being those without edit summaries). You'll have to get your Wikipedia Talk closer to 100, your Wikipedia closer to 500, and eliminate edits without summaries. If you click "my preferences" at the top of the page, you can set it to warn you when you don't have an summary. Or you can just remember to always use an edit summary like I do.
