Digital Combat Simulator is a study combat flight simulator by Eagle Dynamics (who also developed Lock On). It is supposed to bring an unprecedented level of flight realism to the consumer combat flight simulator market, using the data and experience gained in developing military-grade simulations for non-entertainment purposes.[1]

Modular design

edit

Each consecutive release of the game will feature one flyable aircraft. Multiplayer mode will be compatible between different modules, since the core code will be updateble for all modules at no charge.

The first module scheduled for release will be Black Shark featuring the Kamov Ka-50 of the same name, originally intended as an expansion pack for Lock On. It is scheduled to be released in 2008, with consecutive modules following every 9 months. The next modules already in development are the AH-64A Apache and the A-10A Warthog. All off these are ground attack aircraft so the terrain will be more detailed than in Lock On and new ground units will include infantry.[2]
