About Me

edit

I am a student, my interests lie in theater and environmental related subjects. I keep up to date on new Marvel Movies, and other TV shows. A current favorite show, is My Hero Academia, in which a favorite character of mine, Kirishima Eijiro[1], is found. I find that I like being able to relate to characters and their stories. Which leads to another passion of mine, Greek Mythology. A legend that I particularly favor is the story of Icarus. Weird fact, the man who invented Hawaiian pizza, was not in fact, Hawaiian? Mr. Panopoulos is Greek-Canadian[2].

My Interest In Wikipedia

edit

I am interested to learn the ins and outs of this website. I believe I could learn a thing or two. I am also curious onto possibly bringing more recognition to lesser known characters and real people.

Article Evaluation

edit

In 2014, the Google Chrome game widely known as the Dinosaur Game was dispatched. A fun way to pass the time while your computer's internet is down. In where the player controls the dinosaur, known as The Lonely T-Rex, to hop along a desert. This simple game is one that has been with my generation for many school years, curing the boredom of long hours. And the information on how this Lonely T-Rex came to be, should be factual and informative. So, I visited the Dinosaur Game article from Wikipedia. and I found three aspects of it worth commenting on: the new addition to the game: pterodactyls, missing descriptive images, and the lack of material on the Dino Swords game.

Pterodactyls

edit

I noticed that this article brings up a new addition to the Dinosaur Game, released in 2015. This addition being, “The pteranodons were added as obstacles.” Note that the dinosaur added is labeled as a pteranodon. This classification is incorrect. Though the flying dinosaur depicted is hard to define, many have supported that it is in fact at pterodactyl. And pterodactyls and pteranodons are different Jurassic reptiles[3]. Both the source the Wikipedia article, and multiple other reliable sources[4][5], cite all support that the dinosaur in question is a pterodactyl. There also is not a wikilink over the name of the pteranodon, leaving the readers in the dark about what this creature even is.

Depictions

edit

One thing I found missing from this article was adequate descriptive images. There are only three for the whole article. With a game like the Dinosaur Game, it is visually helpful to be able to view the different aspects of the game as they are mentioned in the article. A few of these aspects that would be improved with visual aid. For example, the previously mentioned pterodactyls, an image of the creators of the game, to put faces to the names, and the various easter eggs that have been added to the game through its lifetime (the birthday hat, and 2021 Olympics, for example). I recommend, adding images that have movement (GIFs). Images may not be widely deemed necessary, but the creators of this game spent time on drawing and coding the graphics that are presented. And as such, it is important to showcase as much in this article.

Dino Swords

edit

A final piece of information I found absent in this article is details on the related game: Dino Swords. The article explains that such a game was created, and that the base of the game is arming The Lonely T-Rex with weapons. Everything else about the game appears the same. With this statement the article attaches a source which gives slightly more information, as well as an external link to the actual Dino Swords game. After viewing both the source and playing the game, I wish to say that the wikipedia article could use some more information on this very similar game. Additionally, there is no article on Dino Swords in Wikipedia, leaving the Dinosaur Game article as the only reference when a reader is looking for information. Having knowledge about how this new game is similar and or different from the original, as well as providing visual references would be a great add on to this article.

Conclusion

edit

The Wikipedia Dinosaur Game article leaves readers without access to answers. Due to the few bits of misinformation, absence of ample photographs and visuals, as well as the missing details on a connected game. These all leave this article with something to be desired. However much this article is lacking, it still does a satisfactory job describing the Google Dinosaur Game. And if changes are made, this article will become that much more instructive.
