Jordan Pollack
Jordan Pollack is a professor of computer science at Brandeis University, where he runs the Dynamical and Evolutionary Machine Organization (DEMO) lab. His scientific contributions are in the areas of artificial intelligence, artificial life, and theoretical biology. He received his PhD from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne, advised by David Waltz.
He was named one of MIT Technology Review's "TR 1O" in 2000 - 2001.
Research
editIn the early part of his career, Pollack developed the Neuring machine formalism, which is a proof-by-example of a neural network implementing a Turing machine [1].
Pollack and Hod Lipson gained acclaim for the first instance of evolved 3D printed robots [2].
