Alina Bârgăoanu
Alina Bârgăoanu is Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration (the Romanian School of Government). She is a full professor at the College of Communication and Pulic Relations, teaching courses on Mass media, EU Cohesion Policy and EU Communication Policy, and PhD coordinator in Communication Sciences. She has publisehd over 10 books and 50 articles, studies and book chapters, her research interests focusing on key themes such as EU Communication and EU Public Sphere, Europeanization, Euroscepticism and EU Crisis. Alina Bârgăoanu is the founder of the Center for EU Communication Studies (NUPSPA), the founder and director of the online magazine „Convorbiri europene” (www.convorbirieuropene.ro) and President of the Administrative Board of the European Institute of Romania.
Experience
Alina Bârgăoanu is currently Vice-Rector of the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, serving as Rector of the university between 2013-2014. She is a full professor at the College of Communication and Public Relations, and was elected as a dean in 2012. As lecturer of the “Process and Project Management” MBA of Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration (2011 - 2012) and Fulbright scholar (2001- 2002), Alina Bârgăoanu gained international teaching and research experience. PhD Coordinator in Communication Science, she is also the academic superviser of the MA programs in Project Management (accredited by Project Management Institute GAC) and EU Communication and Governance. Since 2013, Alina Bârgăoanu holds the Jean Monnet Chair on EU Communication and the European Public Sphere and starting from 2014 was appointed President of the ECREA Temporary Working Group ”Communication and the European Public Sphere”. As a strong supporter of research and academic debates on EU Communication and Europeanization, Alina Bârgăoanu is the founder of the Center for EU Communication Studies (NUPSA) and of the online publication Convorbiri Europene (www.convorbirieuropene.ro). Also, she chairs the European Institute of Romania’s Administrative Board. Her public interventions on various EU-related topics have been published in the Romanian and international press.
