Onisim pankratov (1888-1916)[1][2]
Onisim pankratov along with Vorovinov were the first Russian to cycle around the world. On July 10,1911, Pankratov along with Vorovinov,sorokin and zeiberg left Harbin(now in China), for Moscow. However his two partners soon abondon the journey. Pankratov and Vorovinov continued from the town of chita[3]
Traveled through dozens of countries, spent times in prison and in hospital and faced bandits and hostile nomadic tribes and many countless adventures, managed to achieve his goal- to cycle around the world with his Gritzner lightweight road bicycle.[4]
In July 1916, he joined a fighter squadron and during WW1 on a combat mission near dvinsk as a gunner on a fighter plane. The plane was shot down and he along with one French pilot was killed. His next goal was to fly around the world. But his life was cut short by WW1.
