Community based tourism also known as CBT is a kind of tourism opeated and managed by a llocal community for the sake of the well-being of the community through providing a mechanism for sustainable livelihoods, preserving socio-culture such as traditions and enhancing the socio-economic situations of thE community.

CBT concentrates on economically vulnerable villages and developing countries.


Emergence of CBT

Myanmar has started its political transformation in 2012, after decades of political isolation. As a result, tourists become more interested in exploring this pristine and unspoiled sites.

Transition from military dictatorships to more democratic country leads the implementation of CBT.

Tourism Industry became flourished as one of the economic sectors for the sake of generating foreign revenues, protecting local traditions culture, environment, expansion of employment after the country was emancipated from the military regime in 2010.
