Edgardo Villafuerte Abanil, Educator, family man, Schools Division Superintendent Division of Camiguin

Edgardo, nicknamed Ed, was born to a brood of six out of the marriage of Crispulo Cailing Abanil from Camiguin, and Marcelina Dunal Villafuerte from Gingoog City but has roots in Barili, and Dalaguete, Cebu.

He started his career as a teacher in 1992, right after graduating from college. His first assignment was in Impaluhod Elementary School, a sitio of barangay Eureka, the farthest barangay in Gingoog City. He became the school in charge in 1995 when the school in-charge was promoted as Head Teacher and was transferred to Libertad Elementary School.

In 1996, he was transferred to Kalipay Elementary School as a classroom teacher. After a year- in 1997 he was assigned as school in-charge in Pandacdacan Elementary School, a school located in a sitio of his home barangay Odiongan. In 1998 he was reassigned to Talon Elementary School and was later promoted as Head Teacher II. He was promoted in 2001 as Head Teacher III and reassigned to Lawaan Elementary School. In 2004, he was promoted as Principal I and was reassigned to Sio-an Elementary School. But in 2005, he was pulled out from Sio-an to lead the newly-created Eureka Integrated School.

His leadership journey continued when in 2008, he was summoned to the Division Office in Gingoog to become the Division Physical Facilities Coordinator. His new environment made him tackle a new journey monitoring and supervising the repair and construction of school buildings within Gingoog City.
