My name is Kyle E. Harms. I am a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University (LSU).[1]
I was an undergraduate major in Biology at Iowa State University. I then completed a Ph.D. in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University. Following post-doctoral stints at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, University of California at Santa Barbara, and Cornell University, I joined the faculty at LSU in 2002.
Wikipedia
editI became a Wikipedian on August 18, 2011.
A course I teach at LSU is Conservation Biology. My fall semester 2011 course[2][3] was part of Wikipedia's United States Education Program, which is in turn part of the Wikimedia Foundation's Global Education Program. I developed an assignment for the course that gave students the opportunity to make their own contributions to Wikipedia. I then administered a new version of my Wikipedia assignment for the fall semester 2012 course.[4][5]
Sandboxes
editMy first sandbox contains some useful information on editing Wikipedia contributions.
My second sandbox is just an example of a sandbox that has not yet been fully "created," i.e., I have not yet clicked on the "Create" button on the "Edit" page. (Notice that when you open my first sandbox there is an "Edit" tab in the upper right-hand corner of the screen - next to the "Search" window, whereas when you open my second sandbox that tab is missing.)
