Unlike the other guides, I will not be listing my own thoughts about the candidate, but rather providing a summary of the candidates and any issues that might arise around their candidacy. I will also speculate on the likely outcome for each candidate, these opinions are entirely my own and do not necessarily represent who I plan to vote for.
Username | Statement | Questions | Roles | Notes | Chances |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
AGK (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | A(30), AC | Arb Clerk. Previously known as Anthony cfc (talk · contribs). Has answered most questions promptly. | Reasonably solid candidate, but will struggle to overtake other, higher-profile rivals. |
Chutznik (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | — | Candidate was previously known as Shalom (talk · contribs). Has not yet responded to any candidate specific questions. | Very remote chance, given past controversies. |
Cla68 (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | — | Subject of a controversial RFA in 2007. Prolific featured content contributor. Was blocked for three hours in April 2009. | Impossible to write off because of truly impressive array of featured contributions, but unlikely to be elected given block log and previous controversies. |
Coren (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | A(24), O, C, ARB | Sitting arbitrator. Operator of CorenSearchBot (talk · contribs). Has answered all questions reasonably promptly | Good chance of being re-elected. Any anti-incumbent/anti-ArbCom backlash could complicate matters. |
Fred Bauder (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | ARB, A(?), C, O | Former arbitrator. Has been an administrator since before the RFA process was begun, and before user rights were kept in the log. | Outside chance, but has to combat a perception that he is "yesterday's man". |
Fritzpoll (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | A(18) | Lots of article work, long history of mediating difficult disputes | Has to be considered a good chance. |
Jehochman (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | A(25) | Ran in 2008, but withdrew with vote count at 68/105 against. | Seen by a portion of the community as combative, unlikely to be elected. |
Kirill Lokshin (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | ARB, A(49) | Former arbitrator, served as "Coordinating Arbitrator" for six months. Resigned June 2009. | Appears to have wide support and proven experience for the job. Like all ex-arbs, he has to combat a perception that he is "yesterday's man". |
Kmweber (talk · contribs) | Statement | Questions | R(11) | User has been extremely controversial in the past. Recently returned from an extended hiatus. At 2008 election, recorded a result of 34/294, a record losing margin for ArbCom. Stated intention if elected is to decline every case. | The only question here is whether he'll better his mark from last year. |
