Lee Murray (b. Lee J Murray, 14 May, 1970, Edgware, London, England) is a former member of British pop/rock trio LET LOOSE, featuring Richie Wermerling - lead vocals, keyboards, Rob Jeffrey - guitars, backing vocals and -Lee- drums, percussion, backing vocals.
The band scored success in the UK Singles Chart with their two of their first three singles and "Seventeen" "Crazy For You" entering the UK Singles Chart at #24, and climbing to finally reach a #2 peak selling over 400,000 copies in the process. The success of "Crazy For You" led to a remix of "Seventeen" - the track was unable to match the popularity of "Crazy For You" and peaked at #11.
Their debut album entitled Let Loose was released peaking at #20 and selling 60,000 copies. The album release was followed by the single "One Night Stand" which peaked at #12. The final track to be taken from the album was the ballad "Best In Me" #8.
The outfit then embarked on a UK tour. Let Loose returned with a new single "Everybody Say Everybody Do" which peaked at #29. before a new single was released - a cover of the Bread track "Make It with You". The single reached #7 and giving the group their third Top 10 success.[1] This was followed with "'Take It Easy" which peaked at #25.[1]
The follow-up album Rollercoaster was released and peaked at #42 with sales of less than 30,000 copies. Two months later a final single was released from the album in time for the Christmas market but "Darling Be Home Soon" became one of the band's lowest charting singles reaching #65,[1] and Let Loose split up shortly afterwards.
Lee Murray became a DJ and wrote music for ITV'S Scatchy and Co, and a session drummer appearing on TV with Lisa Stansfield, Westlife, Point Break and Cyndi Lauper amongst others. Lee has also worked in management with Holly Valance, Kelly Brook, page 3 girl Keeley hazell, Melanie Sykes and Sports presenter Charlie Webster.
Lee has recently played small roles in a Top Gear spoof car ad, Foyles War and ITV's William and Mary starring Martin Clunes.
Lee is married with two Children
