Hi there! <wave>
I guess this is where I put stuff about me?
Well,,,,,, I guess I should start with my chosen user name "Libdemplus".
I have found that all too often when people read stuff I write they quickly jump to wildly false conclusions about me and my political positions. Mostly people assume (as in ass-u-me) that I am some sort of "right-wing-republican-bible-thumping-homophobe-pistol-packin-Liberal-hater..."
To start with, I'm Atheist, Liberal, Democrat, friendly towards gays,...
Well, you get my point. That's why my username, to head-off stereotypes and accusations. Such accusations against me simply go to prove how stupid and inaccurate stereotypes are.
I am for full and equal rights for every adult (with the possible exception of convicted violent criminals):
- Full and equal rights for homosexuals, yes, meaning marriage and adoption and everything else.
- Full and uninfringed abortion rights for adult women, and very liberal rules
for abortion rights for teenaged girls. (Abortion rights extend up untill the time when the feotus has developed to the point where it is capable of continuing to develop normally outside the womb.)
- As strict as possible seperation of church and state. Meaning freedom ->of<- religion for the people can only be secure when government is free ->from<- religion.
- As wide as possible lattitude in the exercise of rights, short of harming the rights of other people.
- More detailed positions to follow soon....
I am and always have been a Liberal, no, I would say, extreme Liberal, a Registered Democrat since I was 18 (Jimmy Carter in 1976), and only rather recently a gun-rights advocate, about 6 years now and an NRA member, about 3 years now.
I voted for Carter both times, Mondale, Clinton both times, and if my party had offered us a rational Democrat in 2000 I probably would have voted for him as well.
To my grave embarrassment, I also voted for Gray Davis both times and Diane Feinstein each time untill 2000.
Much more to come soon.
