Joseph Mojo Morganfield, youngest son of Muddy Waters was born in Chicago, IL on April 14, 1964. Joseph moved to Westmont, IL in 1973 with his father and sisters where he enjoyed success with his high school basketball team, earning Joseph a full ride scholarship to Northern Iowa. His basketball career meant putting music aside, eventually returning to begin his music career with small gigs and his first EP in 2018 under the name Mojo Morganfield. In 2020 Mojo released a single “Good to be King” with Delmark Records and was working on his first album. The single reached #1 on the Roots Blues Chart a few weeks after its release. And a few weeks after that, on December 10, 2020 Joseph Mojo Morganfield suffered a fatal heart attack at his home in Waukegan, IL with his wife Deborah.
