My name is Amber Welch. I am a librarian at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. Prior to working at Mount Holyoke College, I spent two years at Duke University. I was first affiliated with Duke University Libraries as an Instructional Services Librarian, and later joined the Office of the Provost as the Outreach Coordinator for the campus implementation of VIVO.
I completed my Master of Science in Information Science (MSIS) from the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before becoming a librarian, I spent most of my time working at and advancing the efforts of a non-profit arts center located in Raleigh, NC, and was also an art educator. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a studio art concentration in wood design.
I am passionate about the open access movement, grassroots advocacy, the arts, and nature. I live in Northampton, MA, and enjoy hiking, birdwatching, visiting co-op groceries across the United States, agritourism, and reading in my free time.
