Milton Schlesinger 1906-1996

Milton Schlesinger was born in 1906 in New York City to Isadore and Elizabeth (Lizzy)Schlesinger. Milton attended Morris High School in the Bronx where he excelled in music (percussion) and sports (baseball and track). He left high school to join a band (Vincent Lopez Juniors) on drums, which toured the country. Milton married Frances Friedler and had one child, daughter Joan. in the 1920's, Milton replaced xylophonist Sam Herman at the Mark Strand Theater. Milton's stage name was Don Williams. Milton went on to perform on radio, CBS television, and in studio recordings. He recorded with many entertainers including Diana Ross and the Supremes. For 23 years, Milton was the percussionist in the house orchestra for the Ed Sullivan Show.
