O.U.R. Ecovillage O.U.R. Ecovillage, One United Resource, is an educational demonstration site and intentional community located in Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. The mission of the ecovillage is 'To educate, inspire and transform by co-creating a thriving learning community and permaculture demonstration site." Operations of O.U.R. Ecovillage began in 1999, however its genesis took place in the early 1990s in a co-housing community in Victoria, BC.
Besides offering educational programs such as Natural Building, Organic Master Gardener, Permaculture Design Certificates among others, the Ecovillage is responsible for establishing for the Rural Residential Comprehensive Development Zone with the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD), a Canadian precedent [1] and the establishment of the Commemerative Legacy Project which is the first scattering grounds for created remains not affiliated with a cemetary in Canada.
Beginnings
editIn the Victoria co-housing develpment in the early 1990's, the acronym One United Resource (O.U.R.) was attributed to the community. Subsequent developments can be described in seven phases.

The O.U.R. Ecovillage Co-operative was incorporated on July , 2007 with the help of The Financial Ownership and Governance (F.O.G.) Landshare Research Project.
