Joseph "Joey" Johnson is a fictional character on the NBC daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives, currently portrayed by James Lastovic. Introduced in 2008 under then-executive producers Ken Corday and Edward J. Scott, Joey is the youngest child and only son of Steve "Patch" Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and Dr. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans), also known as the show's supercouple Stayla. In 2015, the character was re-introduced by executive team Albert Alarr, Corday and Greg Meng under the direction of head writing duo Josh Griffith and Dena Higley as a teen filled with "resentment" against his parents following their 2012 divorce.
Casting
editIn March 2015, Days of Our Lives sent out a casting call for a character by name of "Joey", described as "rebellious, 16-year-old hottie" who "struggles with resentment and abandonment issues", which strongly resembled the potential of a SORAS'ed Joey Johnson.[1][2][3] In April 2015, as part of their "The Scoop" column, Soapcentral.com broke news that teen actor James Lastovic had been cast in the role of Joey would appear later that summer.[4][5] Lastovic assumed the role of Joey on August 28, 2015.[6][7]
