User:Lomn/Wikiproject:American football

I think we need a project for American football generally as well as Wikipedia:WikiProject National Football League. I don't, however, have any idea about how to set up such a deal, so I'm just tossing stuff here for thoughts:

Title

edit

WikiProject on American football

Scope

edit

This WikiProject aims primarily to organize and standardize the content of American football-related articles by promoting collaboration among the relevant editors. Current overview articles tend to duplicate scope while providing unclear or contradictory information. Depth regarding the mechanics and strategy of the game is frequently lacking. Overview consolidation combined with specific instance expansion should allow for a better reference that is more easily navigated and maintained.

Parentage

edit

The parent of this WikiProject [will be] WikiProject Sports.

Descendant WikiProjects

edit

No descendant WikiProjects have been named.

Similar WikiProjects

edit

WikiProject NFL would probably qualify.

Participants

edit

This is a list of Wikipedians who are committed to this WikiProject. Please, feel free to join by clicking edit on the right, and signing your name at the bottom of the list with three tildes (~~~). It's a little over the top for a scratch page in my user space, but hey, it's part of the suggested template.

Article Formats

edit

These would need to be agreed on at a minimum:

  • List Overviews (say, list of positions, which should probably give stub-level treatment to each position in addition to the bare list format)
  • Game Concepts
  • Player Positions
  • Formations

To Do

edit

Among other things, To Do includes setting up a proper to do list. Oh well.

Cleanup

edit

A lot of articles (especially technical overview articles) are haphazard or just badly named:

Missing

edit

(As far as I know)

Specific cleanup / expansion

edit

As contrasted with the more general things above:

Merges

edit

Infoboxes, Templates, etc

edit

Some would probably be nice, yeah.
