Surefoot American International School
Surefoot American International School is an International private school situated in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria. The school is built on Christian foundations. SAIS uses the American curriculum to teach people from around the world.
Mrs.Obioma is the founder of Surefoot American International School. She founded the school in 2008. Bishop David Oyedepo is the chairperson of the SAIS board. The board has seven other members.
Beggining of SAIS
When Surefoot American International school was founded in 2008 it had only one building. As the school gradually grew from a very small population more buildings were being built. Now SAIS has three big school buildings.Now the school has pre school to grade 10 with people in all the classes.
The School has state of the art facilities. It has a science laboratory,a library, two art studios, a Basketball court, a school hall, a cafeteria and other facilites. All classrooms have air conditioners and most classes have electronic boards and white boards. The junior classes have plasma televisions along with the others.
The school recently opened a state of the art boarding house. It can room up to three hundred people with a lot of space for everyone. The boarding house a boys section and the girls section. Both have a spacious lounge. Students can watch television when they have completed their work and the house master has approved it. All the students leave for the lounge together.
The boarders enjoy the school dining hall. They have nice meals. Both internationally and locally. They can choose from rice to soups. The boarders also have sport activities.
Academics and Arts
SAIS students have a wide variety of topics. The children in pre school do basic topics to their understanding. Their classes are made fun just like every other class. Primary school students study Maths, English, Science and Social Studies. They also do Arts,Music, PE and French with special teachers.
Middle and High School students have no class teacher. They move from class to class. The seniors have all classes. The Middle and High School students study English, Math, Art, Science,French, Social Studies, PE and music.
All the students make use of the facilities.Students practice different sports. During PE the students play football/soccer, Table Tennis, Basketball, Badminton, Lawn Tennis, Volley ball and athletics. They also practice gymnastics.
Students have a choice of attending clubs. They can attend Arts club, Science club, Taekwondo club, Swimming club etc. Students can do this as their extra curricular activities. After club they can go home or go to the boarding house.
Programmes
SAIS has different activities during the whole year. Every year there is a Science fair, a fun fair, a Christmas carol, field trips and lots more.During the week there is always the Friday assembly. During the assembly students perform and pray. Parents are always welcome to the assembly, making the school hall full during the first thirty minutes of an SAIS Friday morning.
On a ceremonial day in the school students have their ceremonial uniforms.Boys are expected to wear their chinos like trousers with a red school uniform t-shirt and the school blazer. The girls wear skirts, red school t-shirts and the school blazer. Unlike a normal day were students wear shorts, trousers or skirts with the days t-shirt. On Monday students wear a red t-shirt. On Tuesday they wear a white t-shirt. On Wednesday they wear a Blue t-shirt. On Thursday the students wear a yellow t-shirt and on Friday they have a choice of the four colors of t-shirts. Everyday boys have a choice of wearing shorts or trousers while ladies have no option, they wear skirts.
Surefoot American International School is a very nice place to go to. Both day and boarding students enjoy themselves.They are bound to live in happiness. Students have a good connection with their teachers and boarders have the same with their house masters. Somehow SAIS should be rated as a three star school going to a four star school. It is an achievement for a school for such a short period of time. It is good. SAIS is an exciting place to go to.
