About me

edit

Welcome to my page. I am a first year college student planning to become a nurse. Some of my hobbies include watching tv and movies, shopping, and spending time with friends and family. I am currently working on becoming a certified scuba diver. Only 1.1% of the worlds population scuba dives which is thought was mind boggling and it really puts it into perspective how rare the sport is. [1]

My Wikipedia interest

edit

As I grow more accustomed to Wikipedia, I will most likely be using it for academic purposes and educating myself on unfamiliar subjects. I may also use it to learn about places, people, and things that I was not previously aware of. If I continue to use Wikipedia outside of educational purposes, I hope I can become a useful contributor and add facts to subjects I am knowledgeable in and be of use to someone else's learning.

Article Evaluation

edit

I've been watching and keeping with women's soccer/football since I was little. Overtime I discovered the club FC Barcelona Femení and really enjoyed their style of play and the difference of a foreign club. Women's soccer isn't as popular or respected as men's, especially outside of the US, therefore I would like Wikipedia's information to be as reliable and detailed as possible so people can easily learn about the women's side of the sport so it can grow. I visited the FC Barcelona Femení on Wikipedia, and found three aspects worth commenting on: the age of some of the sources, the citations, and the overall structure.

As I looked over the links, sources, and references listed on the page I noticed that some of them were a little outdated. In the world of soccer things change all the time and especially every season. So the fact that the technical staff portion was last updated in 2017 and the source of the roster is from two seasons ago is misleading and could result in someone becoming misinformed.

Citations

edit

On this page I noticed a few errors with the citations. For starters, when it is talking about the squad of players it states that it is current as of September 5th 2020. But when you follow the citation you see that it takes you to the roster from two years ago which means that the citation doesn't match the statement. Another observation I had was that there were hardly any references listed, in fact there are only six references. With all of the factual information being presented, there should be a substantial amount of references listed.

Structure

edit

I believe that the structure of the page needs a bit of improvement. Every team has a captain or multiple captains, this team is no exception. Yet in the article there is no place where the captain is clearly stated. I visited some other teams Wikipedia pages and found that they list their teams captains in the information box on the right hand side, so I would suggest that the FC Barcelona page updates that portion so that information can be easily found.

Summary

edit

After holding the page under a microscope, I can say that it is a great place for a new fan to get a background of the team, it but has room for improvement. Some of the sources are a bit old which isn't currently useful. The squad information is slightly unreliable as the citation doesn't match what is stated. Lastly, some important basic information is absent on the page and should be added in a spot that is clear to see.
