Hartridge High School (Welsh language: Ysgol Uwchradd hartridge) an 11 – 18 mixed comprehensive school, set in a large attractive campus on the outskirts of Newport. It comprises three separate buildings (Upper, Middle, and Lower School) set some distance apart. There are approximately 1,200 pupils attending Hartridge High School which more than 90% of the pupils come from the two nearby large housing estates: Alway and Ringland. English is spoken as the first language in virtually all homes and only a small percentage of pupils come from a minority ethnic heritage. Welsh is taught and examined as a second language. No pupils speak Welsh as a first language or to an equivalent standard. In KS3 and KS4, standards are good with outstanding features in art.
