edit2015 Tanzania flood
editMany houses were damaged due to hail and strong winds. This blocked roads and made rescue operations difficult.[3]
--I added these sentences to expound on the damage the floods caused. I also put a link from "hail" to another wiki article explaining what hail is.

edit1994 plague epidemic in Surat
editI found plagiarism in the second, third, and fourth sentences, so I changed the structure of them to make them more original.
1) "'In 1994, a pneumonic plague epidemic broke out in India. It was particularly widespread in Surat, Gujarat, where it resulted in 52 deaths and in a large internal migration of about a quarter of the city's 1.5 million, who fled fearing quarantine
changed to : 'Surat', Gujarat, was particularly affected. 52 people lost their lives and close to a quarter of the city's citizens fled the area for fear of being quarantined
2) A combination of heavy monsoon rain and clogged sewers led to massive flooding which resulted in unhygienic conditions and a number of uncleared animal carcasses.
Changed to: Large scale flooding occurred due to the heavy rain and clogged sewers. This caused dead animals to remain out in the open, which added to the already unhygienic conditions.
3) There was widespread fear that the flood of refugees might spread the epidemic to other parts of India and the world, but that scenario was averted, probably as a result of effective public health response mounted by the Indian health authorities
Changed to : Many people were afraid that the refugees would disperse the plague and potentially spread it around the world, but this never happened probably because of the efficient response by the Indian health authorities.
I took out the sentence "It is believed that this situation precipitated the epidemic." in order to make sure the information was kept strictly factual.
52 people lost their lives and close to a quarter of the city's citizens fled the area for fear of being quarantined. (I added): "Although the plague only lasted a little over two weeks, it caused widespread panic. Tourism was negatively affected, flights to India were canceled, and some planes from India were fumigated at airports." And I cited this information from the source "Dutt".
I added a link from the word "medieval" to the "middle ages" wikipedia page.
1974 Smallpox Epidemic in India
editOver 15,000 people contracted and died from smallpox between January and May 1974. Most of the deaths occurred in the Indian states of Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal. There were thousands who survived but were disfigured or blinded. India reported 61,482 cases of smallpox to WHO in these five months. India had over 86% of the world's smallpox cases in 1974, primarily due to this epidemic.[1] By 1980, smallpox was certified as being eradicated from the world.
Smallpox was eradicated due to the World Health Organization's smallpox eradication program[2] Donald Henderson, who was a U.S. Public Health Services Officer stationed in New Delhi, said that "If this interest and concern about ending smallpox can be maintained for the next few months, it's all over. We don't think we're overconfident, but everything looks good. By June of 1975, we hope we'll be finished with smallpox in Asia.
1)"At least 15,000 people died of smallpox between January to May 1974, mainly in the Indian states of Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal." I checked the article for plagiarism and only found it in the first sentence, it was from a blog and a few other places. so I changed the format of it to be, "over 15,000 people contracted and died from smallpox between January and May 1974. Most of the deaths occurred in the Indian states of Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal."
2) clarified the meaning of a sentence by changing the wording:
-"It occurred during the World Health Organization's smallpox eradication program, ..." changed to, "Smallpox was eradicated due to the..."
3) I took out "and was important to the project because Indians considered smallpox to be a routine fact of life."
4) By 1980, smallpox was certified as being eradicated from the world. Smallpox was eradicated due to the World Health Organization's smallpox eradication program.<ref
I added: " This program was formally established in 1958, but because of logistics disagreements between the WHO and the Indian government, did not progress rapidly. Headway only began to take place in India after the reorganization of the WHO in the mid 1960s". I cited the source I got this information from with the "Bhattacharya" citation.
5) I added an internal link to the New Delhi Wikipedia page.
1976 Songoan-Pingwu Earthquake
edit1) I checked the entire paragraph for plagiarism and found some in the last sentence. I changed and simplified this sentence and took out some unnecessary information. I changed it it, "The earthquake hit with an estimated population exposure between IX and VIII. Overall, it resulted in 41 deaths."
2) I added, "During the period from August 16th to August 30th, following the mainshock, there were over 400 aftershocks that were recorded with a magnitude greater than or equal to 3.0." and " The Earthquake was preceded by an earthquake swarm lasting 3 years prior to the 1976 earthquake."
3) I added the "Jones" reference for these sources
4) I added an internal link to the wikipedia page "earthquake swarm".
