Questions:
Have you read the AMA FAQ?
- Answer:
yes How would you describe the nature of this dispute? (policy violation, content dispute, personal attack, other)
- Answer:
A page I created was immediately marked "elgible for rapid deletion" by some unknow administrator. I followed the procedure by adding a "holdon" tag and starting a talk page. Despite this, I find the page has been summarily deleted without further conversation or comment.
At the very least, some administrator is being heavy handed. I find it disturbing that all this has happened completely anonymously. I'd like the page to be reinstated and to get on with the normal procedure to discuss if the content is really suitable for the wiki. What methods of Dispute Resolution have you tried so far? If you can, please provide wikilinks so that the Advocate looking over this case can see what you have done.
- Answer:
none What do you expect to get from Advocacy?
- Answer:
perhaps reign in some hyperactive administrator.

Hi. I've asked an administrator to look into this, and take a look at the past version of the page. It appears that, at the time of deletion, the page didn't meet numerous polices. The deleting administrator saw it as a violation of wikipedia's spam policy, and I've been told that the page didn't meet the website notability guidelines. You should take a look at those policies and familiaries yourself with them. An article needs to make an assertation of notability in its text. You need to be careful to make sure that the article is encyclopaedic in tone, and that you appropriately cite your additions with reliable and verifiable sources - avoid original resources. I am told that the page had no sources - these are a neccessity, as they preserve wikipedia's integrity. As for the administrator deleting the page hastily after a hangon tag was seen - the time that it is to be left is sujective, and the admin may have decided to delete the page, seeing a lack of activty. I'm sorry for this, but all admin actions are readily reversible by other admins. If you would like to get the deleted version of the text in order to improve it, please feel free to ask me and I'll arrange it. If you do get the previous version, can I ask you not to immediately replace it - this can lead to blocking (of you) and further deletion (of the page). Instead try to improveit in your user-space. Thanks - please feel free to post any questions on my desk.

Response
Thanks for your attention. I would like to get the page back so I can continue working on it. I admit the immediate goal of the page is self-publicity, but I'm trying to do it in the context of increasing the browsability of the wiki by tying together threads that are only tenuously connected now.
Any other specific advice about the content would be much appreciated. I started with the wiki entry I would consider to be a sibling - another web site in much the same position as mine, and imitated the tone and content I found there. I called attention to some similarly positioned pages in my talk page, which I don't know if the deletor bothered to read or not.
As for timing, the entire event took place in the span of 12 hours, and the administrator made no attempt to communicate or respond to the {holdon} or do anything other than apply the boilerplate {website} tag.
Further discussion
OK, thanks for your repsonse, and sorry for my delay in responding. If you;re writing the article yourself for publicity purposes, you need to be very careful to follow policy - try taking a look at WP:AUTO for guidelines, along with the normal policies listed above. If you need any explanation, please feel free to contact me here. I have obtained the deleted version of the page: see here. Please do not copy this back to the article space just yet - get it up to a standard where you feel it won't be speedied first, and if you wish, I'll take a look at it and offer advice. You can feel free to edit the page linked, in my user area - I don't mind! If you'd like any other help, again, feel free to ask. I'll take a closer look at the deleting admin's actions, though i'm tempted to day that as it was reversible, no real harm has been done. I may make a recommendation that such pages, in future, are moved to user-space when {{hangon}} is seen. Thanks -- Martinp23 23:02, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
