Edit 4/26/07(Japan time): Judging from what I have written on this page before, I don't think I was in a good mood at that time *sweatdrops*. I'll try to edit my phrases in a politer way.
Since I'm not constantly on Wikipedia, I am not going to expand on this User Page that much unless I'm bored; but I do want to point out facts that people are missing in Ginga/WEED and HUNTERxHUNTER.
If you think I'm wrong, I would GLADLY accept the truth ONLY WITH 100% ACCURATE PROOF. And for those of you pointing out "Japanese errors", you'd better have better Japanese than me as well. (I'm half-Japanese who lived 90% of her life in Japan and grew up reading manga/watching anime) If it's a minor error, you don't need to tell me because I can check it out in the history page.
Correction of my grammar and spelling is greatly appreciated, since I am more fluent in Japanese (my 1st language) than English (my 2nd language). Although I'm half-American, I write in Brittish English. LOL
HUNTERxHUNTER
edit- Ryodans' Ages
- Togashi has never given us information about the Ryodans' ages (except Kuroro). In the official guidebook, their names were unspecified. Some HxH fansites say that example:Feitan is 28 and Phynx is 33, but is this really official (=by Togashi himself) information? If you think it is, I would like proof because I AM DYING TO KNOW THEIR AGES.
Ginga -Nagareboshi Gin-
editBefore I start, let me say that I am half Japanese, have grown up in Japan my whole life (technically speaking, I was in the States when I was a baby, but I don't have my baby-days memories so it doesn't really count), and Japanese is my first language. I am saying this because I see a lot of people on Ginga-related sites arguing about certain points (ex.breeds, the Tin thing, etc) but they don't make the right arguments due to their level of Japanese (It's not their fault so don't think I'm pointing fingers at them/you!). So please, if I get into an argument/discussion with you, please consider this. I'm not trying to be bossy; I just want people to know the truth. It is my pleasure to offer a helping hand when it comes to translation, so feel free to ask me anything. But don't get mad if I say I dunno. I grew up in an International School so my Japanese isn't perfect. Of course, when I make a translation error, or you can phrase it better than me (I need help in this part because my English isn't as good as my Japanese), don't hesitate and tell me.
Proof of Breeds:[[1]]
- Ben's Breed
- Ben is a Great Dane. He is NOT a Dane/Mastiff mix, and neither is he half-brother to Moss. For proof, look at all the Japanese books/manga that tells us his breed.
- Smith's Breed
- Smith's breed was unspecified until the book "Ginga Densetsu WEED: Mei-shoubu Retsuden" came out. For the first time we accurately know his breed - French Spaniel mix. Some people believe he is an English Setter, but they are not as slender as Smith, and Smith lacks the beautiful spots (called "belton") of the ES.
- Hakurō's Breed
- Hakurō is a Siberian Husky. It says so clearly in "Ginga -Nagareboshi Gin-: Sei-ken Densetsu" and in "WEED". Even if it didn't say so, Alaskan Malamutes are more meaty, and have a curled tail.
- The Kōgas' Breed
- It doesn't say anywhere what breed they are, but as most people say, I think they are Shikokus or Shikoku mixes. I say this because Kurojaki's fur resembles the "goma" (sesame) patterns of Shikokus. I doubt they are pure Shikokus because they have that weird fluff on their heads, and Kurojaki has spots.
- Vem/Bemu's Breed
- It is unspecified but it is obviously a Boxer or Boxer mix.
- Gin's Siblings
- Sadly, their names and gender were never mentioned. By the way, what is Hi-yan and Gi-yan?
- The Thing That Chewed on Kurotora's Eye
- It is a marten. Some people say it is a "rogue dog named Tin", but that was a translation error. In the manga, it clearly says "ten" (テン in kanji:貂) which is the Japanese word for marten. Look at how small it is when Ben whacked it. It's even smaller than a Chihuahua!
- Igas = Akame's Sons?
- It'd be totally kewl if this were true, but it does not say so anywhere whether they are related or not. Since we have no proof (no, the "I have 6 pups waiting for me" statement is not enough to prove it), we shouldn't mention this; especially on Wikipedia because this should have accurate information as possible.
- Jinnai and Kirikaze
- No, Jinnai is not the bodyguard of Kirikaze. It doesn't say so anywhere.
- Tsukikage = Kirikaze
- Takahashi-sensei just made a mistake, but it's the WJ staff's fault for not fixing it in the tankō-bon.
Ginga Densetsu WEED
edit- Sakura's Breed
- Like it or not (I despise it), she is a Kishu mix, which makes WEED A MIX AS WELL(LOL). Look at "Mei-shoubu Retsuden".
- Koyuki's Breed
- When the man (who owns the would-have-been mate of Koyuki) came to see Koyuki, he said something like (will correct later) "I wanted a good purebred Kishu". KISHU. God, what is up with Takahashi-sensei and Kishus these days?
- Hiro's Breed
- Hiro is a Great Pyrenees. Yes, I know it said in the picture book that he is a Saint Bernard, but in "Mei-shoubu" (which is a newer official book) it was changed to GP. Also, look at the obvious errors in the picture book; it says Ken is a Great Dane and George a Saluki. If Takahashi-sensei himself had written it, he wouldn't make that mistake. I suppose he wasn't involved in the creation of the book except the "realistic" art and the interview.
- Hook's Breed
- It says Labrador Retriever mix in "Mei-shoubu". It doesn't mention Dalmation anywhere, and besides, other breeds have spots too so unless we get official notice, we shouldn't say he's a Lab/Dalmation mix.
- Shigure's Breed
- There is no such thing as a lop-eared Kai, so he and his brothers are definitely Kai mixes.
- Blue's Breed
- It says in "Mei-shoubu" that he is 'a mix of a sheep herding breed of Beauce'. Maybe Takahashi-sensei didn't know it is called Beauceron (or Belge de Beauce).
- Nero's Breed
- He is a Siberian Husky, not Alaskan Malamute. It says so in "Mei-shoubu".
- Mutsu Brothers' Breed
- In "Ginga" it says Kisaragi is a Siberian Husky, but in "WEED" his sons are refered to as Alaskan Malamutes. WTF!? It's either Takahashi-sensei forgot about Kisaragi's breed, or their mother is an AM (I prefer the latter).
- Lenny's Death
- Remember the scene in vol.1 where Weed is helping Lenny but GB wants to leave quickly? GB says that Lenny has Distemper.
Romanisation of Japanese (=Rōma-ji)
editI am only going to mention a portion because there are many sites out there where you can learn Japanese from start. What I am going to mention are some points that I would like to specify to the people editing the "Ginga" and "WEED" pages.
(need to go to sleep so will write another time)
- Correct Roma-ji(NOT DONE)
- Ōu, Chūtora, Kōga, Hakurō, Hokkaidō, Hyōma, Fūga, Shūga, Kyōshirō, Hōgen, Izō, Tōbē, Shinbē, etc.
- Roma-ji to English Spelling(NOT DONE)
- If people are going to spell "Wiruson" as "Wilson", then we should stick to the rule(?): Terry, Lucy, Joe, Lidia, Maxime, etc.
