From 2014 to 2016 Maarten Jansen was a Wikipedian in Residence at the Amsterdam Museum. At December 16th, 2010 he placed his first article on the Dutch Wikipedia. He learned all basics about Wikipedia from Husky, advisor cultural collaborations for Dutch Wikimedia.
For some time he was as Wikipedian in Residence involved with the GLAMwiki Toolset Project, particularly with the preparations for a phased uploading of pics from the collection database of the Amsterdam Museum and organizing edit-a-thons.
Biography
editMaarten was born on September 7, 1965 in the city of Amsterdam. In 1986 he went to study at the Reinwardt Academy, faculty of museology and cultural heritage of the Amsterdam School of the Arts. After graduation in 1991, he worked for several Dutch museums and museum institutions, among others: the Dutch maritime museum in Amsterdam, the Centraal Museum in Utrecht and the former Instituut Collectie Nederland (in 2011 incorporated in the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed). Since 1999 Maarten works for the Amsterdam Museum.
Interests
editMaarten's primary interests include history (of Amsterdam), philosophy and theology, cinema and other visual arts and running in and around Vondelpark and Westerpark.
