Be careful with rollback/revert

edit

Hi there. I noticed you did this revert using Huggle and with the reason "unexplained removal of content" despite the editor in question specifying a reason why they did it. Please remember that reverts/rollback are only for vandalism/bad-faith edits and not good faith edits. If the editor in question has given a good-faith reason for their actions, you should always use undo instead. Regards SoWhy 06:51, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

My regrets

edit

As I look out over the things having been done, I have very many sorrows in my iron heart. I have Latin teacher dying of lechtrechonodes and she is in the belief that nobody cares anymore about and I am trying to show her other wise. I see that I have erred! I will be a good person from ever more and shall not trouble anybody.

However I have friends with same concerns but different sufferings who may have learned differently. I hope they will be good, but two things are not the same: learning by hearsay and by experiences. 128.197.244.189 (talk) 13:34, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Enterprise History Inaccurate as Is

edit

I am a public historian who wrote the original article on Enterprise history which was lifted almost word for word by someone who submitted it as the present article!

I was going through and making corrections to the insertions that this person made in the article which made it incorrect or incomplete. Please save the changes I made as the article as I just edited it is much more accurate and complete.

I have spent 15 years researching this information and someone stole it from the Old Enterprise website and made changes to it that were incorrect.

Please leave it the way I just edited it.

Citations for Enterprise Article

edit

I will be glad to send the list of sources I used for my editing if you will "unrevert" my editing.

Please note I wrote most of the Volusia County, Florida Heritage History Website at www.VolusiaHistory.com

I also wrote the history section of the OldEnterprise.org nonprofit website and it was this info that was cut and pasted into the article currently online.

The Volusia County, Florida website contains several of my articles on Enterprise history. As a government sponsored site, the information has been carefully vetted and verified through the county public history resource department. All documentation is included at the end of the website.

Please note that the article on Enterprise that is currently online was based roughly on my own work. Whoever lifted the information from my work had no background in Florida history and didn't care enough to do the research to check his additions to the text.

I live on the founding plantation of Old Enterprise here in Florida and have been studying and writing about Enterprise history for the past 20 years.

It is very upsetting to me to see my words stolen by some knucklehead who doesn't know what he is doing and doesn't even get the facts right about his topic when he tries to insert his own words.

The insertion I made that you had a question about is my name and I was trying to give myself some credit for what I wrote since no one else will. Now I realize I shouldn't put my name on the site, it's too dangerous.

Basically, all I want to do is ensure that the info about my town is CORRECT. For example, the thief stated that Enterprise is "a suburb of Deltona." That is not right. We are an independent community that has just been given special designation by the county as a "historic village" of its own right. A suburb of Deltona would be inside the Deltona city limits!

Also, Cornelius Taylor was NOT related to Zachary Taylor. I have corresponded with Cornelius Taylor's descendants for many years and know this for sure.

Also, the three Seminole Indian Wars were not started by "conflicts with settlers and soldiers." The wars were instigated by the US government, first under Andrew Jackson who wrongfully invaded Spanish Florida in order to burn out the Indian villages along the northern borderlands.

This is what I mean. Wouldn't you rather have a professionally researched article by a respected public historian than bits and pieces of stolen information cobbled together by some anonymous doodlehead?

It's easy enough to fix, but I don't see how to upload the change. Shouldn't there be a "Upload a new version of this file" link? Anyway, the fix is there on Heart_normal_fixed_gradient.svg. Can you make the change?

Overlinking?

edit

Hey, sorry to undo your edit, the reason I did was that those links had been in the article but were removed during the FAC per WP:OVERLINK. Commenters there criticized linking of terms like seat belt and World War I as common concepts that aren't related to the subject of the article and said that they should be removed. Are you sure you're doing the right thing going back and adding these links to articles? Peace, delldot ∇. 14:18, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Thats ok for me, I appreciate the work you are doing to keep up the featured status, and I don't mind any reverts to my edits to keep the articles at this status. but there are some other links that relate to the subject, can I add them again separately?? Because your undo removed all the links I created, Keep up the good work, thank you :-) Maen. K. A. (talk) 15:14, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Sure, if you deem them related to the subject and all, that's fine. Sorry to have mass-reverted, I didn't see any that I definitely thought should stay, but I did see some that were kind of up in the air, so that's fine. Peace, delldot ∇. 15:27, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Just to let you know that I recently copied the above image that you uploaded to Wikipedia over to WikiMedia Commons, the Wikimedia central media repository for all free media. King Abdullah hospital

edit

Greetings. Did you really create this image? File:KAUH3.jpeg And if so, how?

And did you also create these other images of the hospital? File:KAUH1.jpeg and File:KAUH2.jpeg

Just wanting to doublecheck. All the best, – Quadell (talk) 21:10, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

First of all thank you for your care, I have always wondered about this issue, and here comes my answer, about File:KAUH1.jpeg, its a usual picture I took it from one of the university buildings near the hospital, for File:KAUH3.jpeg I created it using wikimapia, and for File:KAUH2.jpeg it was on the site of the university, and I asked for permission in person -as I am a student at JUST where the hospital is- and took it on my USB Maen. Transparent backgrounds

edit

Could you explain to this ignorant old fart what the difference is between the "transparent" background and the not transparent one? I followed the link to the two pictures of cookies, and the only thing I see is that the "transparent" one has a checkerboard behind it. Oh, and the image looks like it has slightly reduced contrast in the "transparent" one. What's this all about, and why is it important? Unschool 20:20, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

The main advantage of having a transparent background is that the picture become flexible, and easy to use on any base color, or any page, a transparent image background will take the color of the part of page it pasted in without any effort, while a picture with a solid background will need to be adjusted check this example
as you can see the deference here as the transparent one took the color with no need for adjustment Maen. K. A. (talk) 20:32, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Alive: the final evolution edit

edit

Hi, you undid one of my edits a little while ago for this section http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alive:_The_Final_Evolution#Katsumata.27s_Comrades under MITACHI KANON. My edit was changing "first person" to "third person" which I believe is still the correct form. Kanon refers to herself as we would refer to her in a normal discussion. She says things in third person like "Kanon wants to play" and "Kanon hates girls like you" etc (she is also psychotic, mind) as opposed to the normal, first person "I want to play" and "I hate girls like you". The line wouldn't make sense if it was in first person either way because it would suggest that referring to yourself in first is childish while it clearly is not. I have reverted back to my version as of april 11th. Since I don't normally use wikipedia to edit things (don't have an account :\) I cannot guarantee that I will receive letters from you. In any case, Thank you for your time and sorry to have inconvenienced you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.234.252.69 (talk) 09:47, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Design of Wikipedia:WikiProject Jordan

Cool, didn't notice that you're the one who designed the layout of the main page, just thought you did the barnstars for that project. Well it is beginning to seem that I am taking too much advantage of your skills with all these tasks, but if it is easy for you, it would be great to see a new layout. :D The Project has the current color as a dark green, I think that would work in the meantime. Barnstar Needed

edit

Hi.

Of all the Members of the Awars project on e with a really cool userpage feel the apropiate one for this.

You see, i`m a member of the Album Wikiproject and we don`t have a Barnstar of our own, i was thinking on the lines of a star-shape of the Sgt. Pepper or maybe of an LP, but before getting all picky, could you do me the favor of making the Star for the Project?.

I`ll wait for your reply, thanks in advance. Zidane tribal (talk) 18:48, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

first of all thank you for liking my user page :-), first one to tell me so, and, I am very happy that you asked, and I ll be more happy working on it, but please can you be more specific concerning your suggestions, do you mean by an LP this LP, and I don't know what is a star-shape of the Sgt. Pepper, sorry i tried to search them but i couldn't get what you are talking about, please contact me on these, and I will be more than happy working with you, and you are so welcome :-) Maen. K. A. (talk) 22:24, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
Thank you so much for helping. Now, yes, i mean an LP ans sorry i wasn`t specific at all but i didn`t want to enter into details before having word from you, what i meant by Star-shaped is, let me see if i can explain, like drawing the barnstar shape on the Sgt. Pepper cover, then cut it, and have that as the Project star, i hope to have explained myself; Anyway, if the use of the Sgt. Pepper cover create copyright problems the the LP it is.
I guess the easier would be to insert the image of an LP in the center of a simple star, but i wouln`t like to set limits to your imagination.
Hoping to have explained myself in the details, expect your reply. Thanks Zidane tribal (talk) 23:08, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
I guess i get the picture now, should we discuss the barnstar here or on the project talk page, or you can invite other editors to your talk page to comment on the design, I created an initial desgin, modifications can be easily done here it is , Tell me what do you think?? Hi again

edit

Someone suggested that since your desing was admited imediatly the name of the image shouldn`t be InitialdesginforWPA.png, it should have a more permanent sounding name, and since you are the designer, i think is up to you to name it, so, anytime, anyname you feel like it. Thanks. Zidane tribal (talk) 17:33, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Shall I Upload a new file and replace the old one ?? , thank you Maen. K. A. (talk) 09:34, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
I don`t really know a lot of how Commons work so, if there is no way to simply change the name of the file and if you can upload another file without having to redo the star template then, yeah upload a new file. I hope is not so much of a bother. Zidane tribal (talk) 19:53, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Its done here is the new image image:WPABarnstar.png, and I replaced it the old one on all the 15 pages it was used on them :-) Maen. K. A. (talk) 21:28, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi there,

When I type in Sealed Air,a company that also manufactures air-pillow systems, the article about this company is accepted by Wikipedia. In my opinion the article about Bubbla Inc.,the inventor of the air-pillow system and responsible for reducing the carbon-footprint of companies all over the world, should be accepted as well. If the article needs to be written in a different format please advise...

Also please note that the article was written by an independent contractor, not by Bubbla Inc. If that contractor should post the article himself to avoid conflict of interest, please indicate this and we can have it posted by someone outside the company.

Thanks,

Middle

edit

Hi Madhero, I've declined the speedy deletion of middle because unless the IP who blanked it has a number of sockpuppets who've been editing here since 2006, the article didn't just have the one author. It's always a good idea to check the history when a page has been blanked, as sometimes its vandalism rather than the sole author of an article requesting its deletion. Regarding car images

edit

Hi Madhero, me again. The original photograph on which you based your SVG was kept, and one may presume that your SVG is okay as well. The justification is described at Commons:Applied_art#Isn.27t_every_product_copyrighted_by_someone.3F_What_about_cars.3F_Or_kitchen_chairs.3F_My_computer_case.3F. Because the car is a useful article and its design is driven by utilitarian concerns such as aerodynamics and mechanical structure, it is not eligible for copyright, although some small parts of it may be. I'm afraid I was overconservative. Hope this helps. :-) Dcoetzee 05:48, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, and dont worry, I appreciate your work to keep wikipedia in the best shape. and I under stand that, I wanna know if this applies to all cars?? Maen. K. A. (talk) 18:40, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Hi Madhero - the short answer is, there are parts of cars with can be copyrighted (the purely decorative parts that have no functional purpose) but as long as these aren't a significant part of the image, you're fine. Fictional cars are another matter, but I don't think you're concerned with those. :-) Dcoetzee 18:48, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

"British Isles"

edit

I see you have warned me but witheld any warning from people who clearly share your own view that Ireland belongs to the "British Isles", and who have abused me in the process. So, my retaliation to their censorship is wrong, but their assertion over us, the Irish people, is legitimate. Clearly you are a British nationalist because if you had a scintilla of an open-mind you would know that my views represent the majority viewpoint in Ireland. In fact, a brief search of the "British Isles" talkpage will tell you that. But, alas, you don't wish to know. Hi, Its not a big deal, once you correct the problem you are free to remove the template I added, when I tagged it, it didn't had free use rationale, and once you added that, you removed the template, the file will not be deleted immediately for such a cause, so its better to tag it, to keep images on wikipedia withought violating copyrights, by the way if you wanna upload the picture without having any problems, you can first create the page for the image, then upload the image, or try uploading your images to wiki.commons it has more options regarding editing the file before uploading it :-) happy editing MaenK.A.Talk 12:47, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Referencing HD

edit

Adding so many refs is as bad as not adding any; specially since most of them are primary sources which are discouraged per WP:MEDRS. I believe it is much more interesting to search for a good secondary source and use it to ref as many points in the article as you can instead of searching for a different ref each time. For example Jankovic-2008; already in the article, is a very good ref (high quality journal, review article, by famous author) and it could probably be used to reference many of the point in the signs and symptoms section. Take a look for example to the huntington's disease article, which recently passed a good article nomination and I am looking forward to take to FA: A very high quality review from lancet neurology is used more than 70 times as reference in the article. From my point of view the best you could do is look between the refs you have added for the best ones according to MEDRS and eliminate all the others.

Bests.--Garrondo (talk) 16:01, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Additionally journal titles are not usually linked.--Garrondo (talk) 16:01, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you allot for the important remarks you made regarding the citation of the article, and I reverted all edits I made and I ll start all over again, just please tell me, how can you get the lancet article?? did you buy the article?? MaenK.A.Talk 23:26, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I have the luck of working in a university with access to most medical journals so I have no problem in that sense. An alternative is to search for reviews in pubmed central instead of pubmed in general since there is open access to all its contents (although the number of articles is much more limited). Additionally in specific cases users might be able to send you articles you find but do not have access. Ask in the talk page. Nevertheless as already commented the Jankovich article (assumming you have access) is a good start; at least for symptoms section.Bests.--Garrondo (talk) 07:06, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
I c, so if I ask you to get me an access to some article, can you do it??, I mean can you get me a full text article thats not free?? articles in the context of the article we are working on, thank you an example (PMID 19470958) MaenK.A.Talk 11:10, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Parkinson's

edit

As obvious from post immediately above this one, I think you need to be much more selective when picking your references. Not every paper is a good paper, and WP:MEDRS was agreed (and operates by consensus) for a reason. Please make a habit of sticking to reviews in fairly high-impact pubications, or if unavailable high-quality studies that directly address the topic at hand (rather than as a side issue). Reviews are really the best for this purpose, and the PD article already cites the Jankovic (PMID 18344392) article which is a good start on the features and diagnosis of PD; I'd be as a bold as to say that if that article does not mention something, we ought to think whether we should be including it.

I have no problem with reverting back, but again please limit yourself to studies that meet the MEDRS criteria. JFW | T@lk 18:22, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Oh and I agree with Garrondo that you should probably unlike the journal articles. JFW | T@lk 18:23, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your time, I think after all i ll revert all the edits I made to the article and start all over MaenK.A.Talk 23:11, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
I have just come from holidays and seen your message: I could send you some articles that you do not have access to, but my time is very limited, so I can not become a "personal librarian". You'll have to search for refs you have access to. As I told you a good idea is pubmed central; where all refs are free. Bests.--Garrondo (talk) 12:28, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Madhero88,
a somewhat important message is waiting on your talkpage on Commons. --Túrelio (talk) 14:41, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Not sure what happened with the first reviewer, but the article has been in an incomplete review state for over a month now. I've left comments at Talk:Pathophysiology of hypertension/GA1, and put the article on hold for one more week. Dr. Cash (talk) 21:26, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Hematology/oncology task force

edit

I'm not sure who has the authority to create task forces, however I think that it's about time that we got that task force created. The sooner it is created, the sooner the members can get to work. Thanks, Tyrol5 [Talk] 01:29, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

I posted a couple photos of this condition at the medicine talk page. Perhaps we could collaborate to make this article a DYK? ---kilbad (talk) 21:28, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello!

Are you the photographer of this image on Commons? If yes, please confirm this and please give better source information and description. Would be great! The image was uploaded by Commons user Matt.T. Do you have a higher resoluted version of this image? Thanks for your help! --High Contrast (talk) 09:30, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
