Established in 1889 by Mr. Nahalchand Laloochand, NL Group has a lineage of over 100 years now. In the past, the group has been into several businesses such as textiles, sugar, cement, banking pharmaceutical, chemical and film processing, but are currently operating in two major industries namely, Real Estate and Foreign Exchange.

Company History

NL Group was established by Mr. Nahalchand Laloochand in 1889. The company has a heritage of over 100 years. The founder with his entrepreneurial skills and business acumen went on to becoming one of the leading yarn businessmen in the pre-independence era. He was also the sole selling agent of the mill owned by the Killick Nixon Group named Kohinoor Mills and the mills owned by the W.H.Brady Group, namely Colaba Land and Mills, New City Mill and New Great Mill. The NL Group was furthered by the heir to the group Mr. Kantilal Nahalchand, who served as Director of the Bank of Baroda Ltd. for over three decades. The group was also known for their works in the textile industry, sugar, cement, banking, pharmaceutical, chemical and film processing industries.

In 1979, the fourth generation heirs of the group Mr. Rajesh Himatlal and Mr. Mukesh Himatlal took NL Group to greater heights by venturing into the Real Estate Industry. Today, the group operates two major businesses Real Estate and Foreign Exchange under the leadership of Mr. Rajesh's sons- Mr. Jai Rajesh and Mr. Yash Rajesh.

The foreign exchange business of the group, 'NL Forex' provides services ranging from retail to wholesale and is one of the top 10 foreign exchange financial services companies in India.

The brand is established in the real estate segment and is known for their quality and timely delivery of projects. They are also the first developer in the country to offer legal guarantee of possession on pre-determined dates. Excellence in the Real Estate business The company boasts of it in-house team of experts from the real estate who carry out most of the projects, and hence ensure a certain level of quality and excellence in all their properties. The company has experts hired in all the functions that are required to operate a real estate company with efficiency and due diligence. Corporate Philanthropic Efforts

The NL Group from the time of its inception has continuously carried out philanthropic activities in order to give back to the society. Mr. Nahalchand Laloochand laid the foundation of the first hospital in Patan, North Gujarat in 1919; which is today the District General Hospital with a capacity to accommodate more than 600 patients. Mr. Poonamchand Laloochand, brother of Mr. Nahalchand Laloochand donated his entire wealth consisting of a princely sum of more than Rs. 25 Lacs in the year 1924 for constructing the entire water works for the town of Patan. Even today on the basis of the condition of donation laid down by Mr. Poonamchand Laloochand, there is no water tax on the citizens of Patan. In 1939, Mr Kantilal Nahalchand donated a plot of land measuring two and a half acres on the main S.V. Road in Malad for the construction of a school. The school today has 2,000 students and is attached to a Science and Commerce College educating more than 3,000 students. The group is continually striving as a part of their CSR activities to work towards the betterment and development of the society.
