International Institute for Software Testing (IIST) The International Institute for Software Testing (IIST)[1] was establish in 1999 as a division of Software Dimensions Consulting and Training, Inc. At the time it was established, IIST had only few courses in software testing taught mainly by the founder of the institute, Dr. Magdy Hanna[2], [3]. Over the years, IIST has been featured in a number of professional publications such as The Silicon Review [4], PRWeb[5], CEOCFO Magazine[6], and Newswire[7].

The first two software testing certifications issued by IIST were the Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP) and the Certified Test Manager (CTM)[8]. IIST has adopted an Education-Based approach to software testing certifications which is different from the Exam-Based approached used by other certification authorities. IIST continues to make the distinction between the the two approaches emphasizing that certifications that are granted as a result of passing an exam do not help individuals develop new skills[9].

Because of the outstanding customer service provided by IIST, the Better Business Bureau granted it an A+ accreditation rating[10].
