About Me
editMy name is Maksim Kanev and I am a fourth year student at the University of Hull, Scarborough Campus. I am on the BSc Web Design and Development with Industrial Experience. I decided to take the year out in industry, because I was certain it will be of great benefit to my professional career once I graduate from University. Once I graduate I would like to pursue a career in Web Development, I would like to put all the academical and professional experience I have obtained into use, before it all becomes outdated.
History
editThe reason I came to study Web Development in an English University is because it was one of the few places that offered this course. I developed my interest for Web Development in High School, where I was enrolled in a Computer Science course. I found that Web Development is more appealing to me and I wanted to pursue a career in Web Development once I have graduated.
Psychology of Internet Behavior
editThe reason why I have made a Wikipedia account is to do my coursework for one of my modules. I have to edit a Wikipedia page on psychology whilst engaging with my course mates, tutors and wider Wikipedia community on Wikipedia. I have to admit I have found it quite difficult to talk to people on Wikipedia.
Anxiety/uncertainty management
editThe group I am part of picked to work on the Anxiety/uncertainty management page, however, we did experience a slight problem. One of the other groups had also picked the same subject, so we had to change our topic. It was difficult to avoid the confusion, but with good communication on our behalf we managed to change the topic without further complications.
Elaboration-likelihood model
editWe changed our topic to Elaboration-likelihood model. For that subject I wrote better description of the two paths which the theory suggests - the central path and the peripheral path. I have also wrote about an experiment that was made on a group of students using this model in order to persuade them to stop smoking.
Reaching out to the wider Wikipedia community
editI have sent a message on the Wikipedia tea house, explaining what we have done as a group and asked if people are willing to contribute more to what we will upload. I have explained when we are going to be done with the changes and asked if people can edit and improve the page further as it seems that the Elaboration likelihood model article does indeed require a lot of editing and a lot of more explanation.
