TACHOG LHAKHANG ( TEMPLE OF THE EXCELLENT HORSE)
Tachog Lhakhang is located on the opposite bank of the river. This private temple was founded by the Thangtong Gyelpo( Iron Bridge lama). It was built around 1420 after he saw a vision of Avalokiteswara in the form of a horse. He is credited with building the first iron bridges in the country.
Long time back I had a dream to visit this sacred lhakhang of Thangthong Gyelpo but left undiscovered for many years.
I felt curious whenever I see this temple while passing through. Then, I made a promise to myself that one-day I’ll full fill my wish.
Today I made a short visit to Tachog lhakhang and it was worth visiting. Now my long awaited promise was over
Temple holds extraordinary history behind and is also one of the tourist attraction due to its beautiful structure.
