Professor Marianne Thoresen is Professor of Neonatal Neuroscience at St. Michael's Hospital, University of Bristol and Professor Emeritus of Physiology at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo. Professor Thoresen has pioneered hypothermia and Xenon treatments in babies diagnosed with hypoxic-ischaemic encephalopathy. She has been the recipient of numerous awards recognising her contributions to improving human life such as the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher Education in 2014 and the Hugo Lagercrantz Award in Paediatrics in 2021.
