Maringaense

My two cents
Knowledge is as important as the air we breathe. Not taking heed of that is grasping for it whilst drowning in sheer ignorance.

editAs a self-proclaimed WikiGnome, there isn't obviously much to report home in terms of article creation, as I'd rather doing my WikiGnome business in the lurk, under the ad hoc Wikipedian mushrooms than expose myself to the rather flashy but harmful, UV-laden spotlights of recognition.
User info
editThe nick 'Maringaense' comes from the gentilic demonym for natives of Maringá, southern Brazil - where I am originally from.
Subjects I am very interested/conversant in include:
- Astronomy and astrophysics;
- Photography (my favourite genre being street photography);
- Digital audio. More specifically, lossy and lossless audio encoding;
- History - WWI (thanks mostly to my interest in the lives of the flying aces of the period since an early age); Victorian and Edwardian London; etc, etc;
- England (London and Oxford, more specifically, as I lived for several years in each city);
- Literature - The classics, eerie gothic horror short stories (18th-19th-century gothic and early 20th-century stuff), sci-fi, crime investigation (Sherlock Holmes!);
- Filmes/movies: mosty classics from Hollywood's Golden Age, film-noir, Hitchcockian suspense and so on.
