For the mountain in Bergen municipality, see Veten.
Veten is a peak in the southeastern part of Langøya in Hadsel municipality. It rises up about 382 meters and is among the most visited peaks in all of Ytre Eidsfjord. It has a little "shelter" at the top, with a view over most parts of Vesterålen except Andøy. It's situated between Kvalsøyfjellet and Hallartinden, in a small group of two mountains, Fleinneskollen and Hesthammaren. The paths that walk up to the peak are well-marked, but only one has a sign showing up.
The name Veten comes from an old Norse word, "viti" which is a common term of "varselbål" and "signalbål", big campfires, Phryctorias, that are lit as warnings.
