My Interests
editJohn Conn's father was my direct ancestor. I have interests in Naval History, and have researched many family members associated with the Royal Navy. Born in England, I currently live in the U.S.A.
My career in electronics led to my invention of the Tate Directional Enhancement System in 1973, a quadraphonic decoder for the SQ and QS systems. A British patent was filed in March 1974, followed by additional filings in the U.S.A., Japan, Canada, Germany, France, Netherlands, and Australia (not completed). Three additional U.S. patents were also granted on features of this invention as the integrated circuits were developed.
Contributions
edit31 January,2007 Edited the Quadraphony page to add a footnote referencing the patent numbers for the Tate Directional Enhancement System.
07 January,2007 Edited the Biographical info box on the Wikipedia John Conn page. The date of John Conn's death, 4 May, 1810, stated correctly in the main article, was incorrect in this box, showing the month as April instead of May. The location of his death shown as 'Of the coast of Bermuda' was corrected to 'Off the coast of Bermuda' (spelling/grammatical error.)
Notes
edit- The International Genealogical Index (IGI) [1] has details of John Conn's christening at Stoke Damerel, Devon, on 5 Aug, 1764, the son of John Conn and Ann Frances.
- The IGI also contains details of his marriage to Margaret Nelson on 19 Jan, 1792 at Antony, Cornwall.
- John Conn's death is mentioned in an obituary of his wife, which appeared in the West Briton of 19 August, 1836, available at [2], see Deaths, 1836, August.
