PRINCIPLE AND METHOD OF PREPARING SITE


First of all What is a site?

Site can be define or said be a portion of land mapped out for building construction.


Site Prearation: These are prelimainary operations carried out on a site before the commencement of construction work. The develop or client to know whether it is economically viable to build on the proposed site.


TOOL MACHINE USE IN PREPARATION

1. Cuttlass

USE OF TOOL AND EQUIPMENT

1. Cutlass: In clearing and felling down of treees.

2. Pick Axes: Used in digging out the hard stump in the ground.

3. Hoe: Is used in soften the ground

4. Shovel:  Is used in removal of top soil.

5. Spade: Is used in removal of hard stump.

6. Buldozer is a machine in which we use in removing big trees in the site.

7. Execavator:  Is the machine  which is  used in making or creating cavity or treches.


FUNCTIONS OF SITE PREPARATION

The purpose of site preparation is to identify and reduce the risk associated with the development by recording site feature.


2. STORAGE FACILITY: Storage facility is a housing provision for storage of items on that are of value during the period of construction work.


3. Hoarding: This is a temporarily structured fencing on the construction site to prevent by unauthorized person into the site.


Stage of Site Preparation

1. Site Investigation: Site investigate is the process of collecting information, assessment of data and reporting potential hazard benealth a site which are unknown.


These include;

1). Soil investigation

2). Geological survey maps

3).  Detailed site investigation

4). Setting out: Setting out refers to the act of measuring a full size plan of a building or element of a building on site.

Definition of Foundation

A foundation is mat part of a wall which safely sustain and transmit to the ground on which it rest all combined dead and imposed load in such a manner as not to cause any settlement  or impair the stability or cause damage to any part of thebuilding.

It is sometimes refferd to as artificial foundation and the ground on which it bears the foundation.


Function Requirement

1. Strengh and stability the dead and imposed load on a building must be transmitted to the ground safely without causing defleition or deformation of the building the foundation should be design and constructed to resist any movement of the subsoil.

2. Durability: A good foundation must serve it must be able to carry the load of walls.


TYPES OF FOUNDATION

There are basically 4 types of foundation namely;

1. Strip Foundation: Strip foundation is afoundation which is suitable for mostsub soil and light structural loading  such as those encountered in low to medium rise building.
