I have been an IT practitioner for over 25 years now, mostly as a consultant (I was head of Technology Consulting - which included System Integration - for the Financial Service Industry at BearingPoint in North America) but in the past few years, I have been working for a major swiss bank first as interim CTO for their North American Wealth Management group and now as Head of Strategy for the Global CTO organization.
As a classically trained engineer (at Télécom ParisTech), my interest lies in all things technology, particularly IT Strategy and Architecture (see BearingPoint Technology Journal on IT Strategy and Architecture and 10 Rules for effective enterprise IT Architecture-12527) and IT Infrastructure management (see IT Infrastructure Service Delivery Model)
This said, a great deal of work I have done in helping technology transform organizations has touched on the importance of internal marketing (eg, the concept of Product Management (see Podcast on Product Management) as it applies to what IT organization provides to end-users) or IT organizational design (see A Conceptual and Practical Approach to IT Organizational Design), all topics I was exposed in my courses for my MBA at Columbia University.
Also in the recent past, I have been contributing to the work with Consortium fot IT Software Quality where I’ve had the chance to get exposed to the work performed by luminary industry experts in SW quality, universities’ research labs, as well as Capers Jones, CISQ Distinguished Advisor.
