I am second-year graduate student at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs in New York. I am working on a research paper about the accessibility of editing Wikipedia and comparing Wikipedia English to Wikipedia Arabic in content, quality and editing ease for a class I am taking, New Media and Development Communications with Professor Anne Nelson.
For the same class, I am also part of a team that is working with a mentor at Wikimedia Foundation this semester. We are doing research on how to expand outreach it Arabic speakers and bring in more volunteers to edit and create content in Arabic. Hopefully, we'll have some interesting findings and recommendations.
I've worked as a freelance journalist (spending time with BBC News in Beirut, WBUR-FM in Boston and The San Francisco Chronicle) and done communications for a non-profit focusing on the national dropout crisis. See more on michellechahine.com.
