This is a stub to start a User page for M-E Duban, a wikipedia content expert and writer (more so than editor).
You can call on me to offer guidance on subjects related to organic and biological chemistry, including as it applies to medical and fundamental life sciences. My current career focus is on chemical synthesis and medicinal chemistry as it applies to small molecule drug discovery, with project participation that includes structure-based drug discovery (involving macromolecular crystallography, small molecule enzymatic and biophysical screening, etc.). Focus is mainly on small molecule discovery chemistry (synthesis, design) and informatics; therapeutic areas are primarily infectious disease, with some forays related to oncology and cardiology. Training is through UChicago PhD, with major pharma experience. Currently a res prof at a major university.
I am currently seeking wikipedia partners in writing (esp. in areas related to the above) that are proficient in (i) image handling in wikipedia, (ii) editing in wikipedia, and/or (iii) in image generation in standard scientific drawing programs (e.g., ChemDraw, etc.), as a preparative step before wikipedia incorporation. My interest and focus needs to be on core content generation.
Vis-a-vis wikipedia philosophy and process, I can be considered the "cranky old guy", believing in expertise (need for expert review and decision-making) and expedient processing of authoritative contributions; hence I am a strong proponent of fundamental process change at wikipedia, as it applies to scientific content.
I am also weighing/exploring alternative venues for scientific contribution, given the current challenging state of affairs a wikipedia, vis-a-vis content approval and management.
