Dave Elitch (born April 7, 1984) is an American drummer and drum teacher, known as former drummer for heavy metal supergroup, Killer Be Killed,[1] as well as performing with The Mars Volta, Flea, Miley Cyrus[2] and Weezer.[3]

Biography

Elitch started playing drums at age 10, initially influenced by jazz and big band drummers, Buddy Rich, Max Roach and Art Blakey, and then by rock and metal bands Nirvana, Foo Fighters and Metallica.[4] He cites Tomas Haake and Abe Cunningham as his favourite drummers, but he also liked Vinnie Paul, Morgan Agren, Dirk Verbeuren, Dan Foord, Henry Ranta.[5]

His first notable band was Daughters of Mara, which he joined after be moved to Los Angeles,[4] this band recorded an album called I Am Destroyer, which was released in 2007.[6]

In 2009, he joined The Mars Volta.[7]
