Patrick Moore was born Patrick William Sheffield on October 20, 1912 in Bristol, England, and was the last surviving cast member of Cecil B. DeMille's 1923 silent classic The Ten Commandments. When he was cast for DeMille's film, DeMille chose to change his onscreen surname to Moore. He was the older brother of fellow silent film child actor Michael D. Moore.
