Early life and education
editJay Hudson grew up in Livonia, MI. In 2003, after attending Schoolcraft College for two years, he attended Specs Howard School of Media Arts.
Career
editHudson started his broadcasting career at WRIF (101.1 FM) in 2002. His tenure there continued until 2006, when he was hired by 89X in Windsor, ON. While working at WRIF, Hudson also picked up weekend shifts at WKQZ (Z93 in Saginaw, MI).
He’s currently the on air DJ from 7PM – 11PM, Monday-Friday. He also does the 89X Homeboy Show (Sunday’s at 10PM), promoting local music. Hudson also serves as Music Director for 89X.[1]
His popular show feature "The 89X People's Choice" has helped break bands such as A Day to Remember, Richy Nix, I See Stars, Avenged Sevenfold, We Came as Romans, Escape the Fate, and Innerpartysystem.
Awards & Honors
edit- Hudson has been voted "Best DJ in Detroit" for four years in a row (2009-2012) by the popular Michigan paper, Real Detroit Weekly.[2]
- In 2010, Hudson was inducted into the Specs Howard School of Media Arts Hall of Fame.
- In 2008 he was nominated for Music Director of the year in R&R (magazine).
