Mika Cimolini (born 1971) is a Slovene architect. [1] She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana and received her master’s degree from Berlage Institute [2] in the Netherlands in 2001. She practices architecture closer to the notion of an industrial product. Together with Igor Kebel, she co-founded the architectural studio Elastik [3] in 2004, which was among others part of the internationally acclaimed traveling exhibition of contemporary Slovenian architecture 6IX:PACK [4], together with Sadar+Vuga, OFIS Architects, dekleva gregoric architects, Maechtig Vrhunc Arhitekti and Bevk Perović Architects.

At the same time, she co-founded Hikikomori with Aron Boršo and Aljoša Rot, a company focused on combining architecture with multimedia. Hikikomori focuses on exhibition and interaction design. The exhibition Our Little Big Sea [5] at the Slovenian Museum of Natural History was the first interactive science exhibition in Slovenia and was awarded the Valvasorjeva nagrada by the Museum Association of Slovenia in 2016[6].

She was the Head of Program Management of the Center for Creativity[7] for the first five years of the project, from 2018-2022. Centre for Creativity is the first Slovene national interdisciplinary platform for the development of the creative industries in Slovenia. It operates within the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana [8], Slovenia.

Recently she has focused on her practice in Slovenia. She also curates and co-produced design, architecture, and museum exhibitions. With her involvement in the media, she has drawn attention to the cultural dimension of the architectural discipline. She has been active within the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia (ZAPS)[9] for many years, presently as Commissioner for Communication and Events. She lectured at various professional events and faculties, including at the Berlage Institute, TH Köln, and the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana.
