I joined Wikipedia in May 2010 because I saw an entry for International Roughness Index (IRI) that wasn't very useful. I replaced it, and may continue to contribute in other technical topics.

I admit I find the Wiki environment confusing with respect to credibility of the articles. I have great confidence when looking for information about movies, books, TV, and topics which are completely unfamiliar to me. But when I see articles about technical material, they're generally wrong. I don't mean badly written, I mean simply incorrect.

If I come across an article several times (typically because it shows up in Google searches) I might try to fix it, but it seems like a daunting task to go in and try to correct all the major errors in vehicle dynamics that I see.

At this stage in Wikipedia's development, I generally go for less is more. Having shorter, simpler articles that are correct is more useful to the public then rambling articles with incorrect or misleading examples written by enthusiastic but novice authors.
