'Sofia's Last Ambulance'
Sofia's Last Ambulance (co-production Germany, Bulgaria, Croatia) is the first feature-length documentary film by Bulgarian director Ilian Metev. The film premiered at the 51st Semaine de la Critique (International Critic's Week) at Cannes Film Festival 2012 [1], where it won the inaugural Visionary Prize (France 4 Prix Revelation) [2].
Plot
editSofia's Last Ambulance opens on an ordinary working day of Krassi, Mila and Plamen, the paramedic crew on one of Sofia's dangerously dwindling fleet of emergency ambulances [3]. The medical infra-structure is in ruins and soon the pressure of it on the team is revealed.
