Hamilton averaged 26 points, 7 assists, and 8 rebounds his sophmore year.
He transferred to Dominguez High School after his sophmore year and averaged 27.6 points and 11.1 rebounds leading Dominguez to a 32-3 mark as the state Division I runner-up. He also participated in the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA Championship and recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds in a 63-60 win in the I-AA title game against Mater Dei (the number 1 team in the state then).
He participated in the Elite 24 prep all-star game at Rucker Park the summer after his junior year. He was unable to play his senior season because the California Interscholastic Foundation ruled he could not have a fifth year of eligibility.
