Mojtaba Mirsalim (AghaMirsalim) was born in Tehran, Iran, on February 14, 1956. After graduating from Alborz High School ([1]) in 1974, he was admitted to the University of California at Berkeley. He received the B.S. degree in EECS/NE and the M.S. degree in nuclear engineering from UC, Berkeley in 1978 and 1980, respectively, and the PhD in electrical engineering from Oregon State University, Corvallis, in 1986.
Since 1987, he has been at Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, ([2] ) where he has served five years as the Vice Chairman in charge of education and more than seven years as the General Director in Charge of Academic Assessments, and currently is a Full Professor in the department of Electrical Engineering where he teaches courses and conducts research in electrical machine design, energy conversion, and hybrid vehicles, among others.
His special fields of interest include the design, analysis, and optimization of electric machines, FEM, renewable energy and hybrid vehicles. Dr. Mirsalim is an IEEE senior member and the author/co-author of more than 160 international journal and conference papers, four books on electric machinery and FEM, and nine patents [3]. He is the founder and the director of the Electrical Machines & Transformers Research Laboratory ( [4]). Professor Mirsalim spent his sabbatical at St. Mary's University ( [5] )from August 2007 through August 2008 and since then, he has been cooperating with the Engineering school at St. Mary's university, San Antonio, TX. Right now, he is a professor in the electrical engineering department at St. Mary's University.
