Andrew Bryan (1737-1812)- Founded the first african american baptist church of Savannah, in Savannah Georgia. Bryan was a slave that was owned by Jonathan Bryan. He came from from a family of slaves until he bought his own freedom after the death of Jonathan Bryan. The preacher, George Leile converted Andrew Bryan to a preacher. After George Leile left for Jamaica, Andrew Bryan took over preaching at the church. As Bryan continued preaching he bought his own land and church.
